In a move we can't believe took this long to be made, Sonic the Hedgehog will soon have his own endless runner mobile game.

Temple Run blew up smartphones when it came out in 2011, and now Sega is jumping in to try its hand in the world of endless runner games, Siliconera reports. Its debut endless runner will be titled Sonic Runner, and will feature the famous company mascot doing what he does best. While there are no further officially released details about the game, the character seems like a good fit for the genre. At least it should be more interesting than Sonic's last mobile foray, Sonic Jump Fever.

There's no word on when or if Sonic Runner will be coming to the U.S., but given how popular endless runners are, and how many people love Sonic, it seems like a no-brainer. More details are expected to arrive in the new year, and hopefully we'll have a better idea of what to expect from Sonic on mobile.
