Sanzaru Games walks us through its offices to show us the work and development that has gone into Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for the Nintendo 3DS.

We're happy to say that we did not notice any 3D sequences throughout any of the in-game content during this behind the scenes look at Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, which is a telltale sign that Sanzaru Games knows what they're doing. Sure,  the new villain, Lyric, looks like one of the regular bad guys from Donkey Kong, but just as long as Sonic and his buddies keep on side-scrolling, we're sure this will be a much better entry of the franchise than the Blue Blur's more recent incarnations. Sanzaru's developers explained that Sticks, the newest member of the Sonic squad, is exclusively playable in the 3DS version of Sonic Boom. We have also learned that owning Shattered Crystal will help unlock additional content in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for the Wii U.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal will launch for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 11.

Some things never change:
