The studio known for Contra 4, Ducktales Remastered and Mighty Switch Force is bringing back our favorite platforming genie in an all-new adventure.

WayForward has posted its E3 2015 trailer for Shantae: Half Genie Hero. After a successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2013, WarForward is finally gearing up for its official release. This E3 2015 trailer showcases Shantae's first cross-platform HD title. Based on the positive reception Shantae and WayForward have received in the past, we have a feeling this will mark an excellent current-gen debut for the belly dancing, hair-whipping genie.

In Half-Genie Hero, you'll play as the adorable human/genie hybid as she belly dances to transform into magical creatures and hair-whips enemies for the sake of saving Sequin Land. It's up to Shantae to stop the villainous Risky Boots. WayForward made it no secret that Shantae evokes Samus, Simon Belmont and Link's essences of gameplay in trying to provide a fresh platforming experience. We're certainly impressed by Shantae's visual style and awesome soundtrack, which reminds us of the glory days of 8- and 16-bit platforming. We can't wait to see what WayForward has planned for the final product. We suggest anyone skeptical about Shantae's concept should just check out the trailer and give it a chance, as WayForward has done wonders with the franchise so far.

While no release date has been set, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will hit PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PS Vita.
