Nintendo’s Amiibo Releasing Alongside Super Smash Bros
Just like Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, Nintendo's new Amiibo NFC figures have gotten an official release date and price from the Big N.
Launching alongside Super Smash Bros. on Nov. 21, the first wave of Amiibos will consist of 12 figures at $12.99 each. Wave one will include Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. A second wave is due in December, which is when Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon will join the collection.
Super Smash Bros. will be the only game compatible with the Amiibo figures at launch, however, upcoming titles like Mario Party 10 and Yoshi's Woolly World will also make use of the NFC collectibles. Mario Kart 8 is set to get support for Amiibo's as well, though Nintendo hasn't said when we can expect such functionality to arrive.
Even if you're not super into using figures to play SSB, the Amiibos are priced reasonably enough to act as nice collectibles for fans. At the very least, they'll go nicely with the Disney Infinity and Skylanders collections you already have.
