New marketing materials from GameStop indicate Activision will be announcing its next Call of Duty game on May 1st.

The new marketing information was passed along to IGN, which included instructions for an untitled new Call of Duty display. The standee will apparently be put out on May 1st to coincide with a more formal announcement from Activision. For those of you following at home, this reveal is playing out almost to the letter for how the publisher has unveiled new entries in the series for the past few years.

There are several NBA playoff games scheduled for Wednesday night, which would be ripe for a new commercial centered on the next entry in the insanely successful FPS series. Rumors and leaks indicate this next sequel could be Call of Duty: Ghosts, but there's been no murmurs from Activision or Infinity Ward about what to expect. Based on these new reports however, we won't have to wait much longer to find out just what's going on.
