Mortal Kombat Website Goes Dark just before Huge Announcement
With less than two days left until Ed Boon's major announcement, the official website for Mortal Kombat has gone dark. Also, recent messages between Boon and rapper Wiz Khalifa suggest a collaboration on NetherRealm's next project.
Any Mortal Kombat enthusiasts or Outworld supporters who have tried to visit the game's official website lately have been met with a surprise -- it is now simply a blank page featuring nothing but the series' iconic dragon logo in black and white. This is the same logo that we have seen in the recent "Who's Next" poster and is also the default picture of the Mortal Kombat series co-creator and NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon.
As previously reported, Boon's Twitter has been alluding to a major countdown which ends on Monday, June 2. Given how close it is to E3, it is expected that NetherRealm Studios will be announcing its next major project on this day. Boon's tweets suggest that this upcoming announcement will be the tenth entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise. Also, a few recent conversations between Boon and Wiz Khalifa suggest that the Pittsburgh-based rapper will be involved with this project in some form. A few of Khalifa's recent hit songs, such as "The Race," mention the rapper's affinity for the MK franchise.
Stay tuned as we will provide more coverage on this next NetherRealm Studios project once more information is available.
