The two spiritual successor series to Super Mario RPG collide in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

We're already seen Baby Mario & Luigi crossover into the Mario & Luigi series, and it's about time Paper Mario did the same. For those hoping for Super Mario RPG 2, this is the game for you. We'll likely never get Geno and the gang back together due to licensing issues between Square Enix and Nintendo. Luckily, many members from Square who worked on Super Mario RPG went on to work at AlphaDream, the current team behind the Mario & Luigi series. Likewise, Paper Mario was originally billed as Super Mario RPG 2, but Nintendo decided to make it its own series. Now, these two spiritual successors to Super Mario RPG collide in an awesome crossover where the characters of the Paper Mario series enter the world of Mario & Luigi.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam will be hitting the Nintendo 3DS sometime in 2016.
