Magicka 2 is coming to the PS4, publisher Paradox Entertainment announced at the Sony E3 press briefing. Developer Pieces Interactive will also make a PC version of the sequel to the indie classic, Magicka.

An isometric multiplayer action-RPG, Magicka 2 looks to expand on the concepts found in the original game. Unlike other Diablo-esque titles, Magicka and Magicka 2 have only one character class: Wizard. The lack of a mana bar also differentiated the title, allowing four on-screen players to cast and combine elemental spells at will, and the sequel looks to follow suit. As evidenced by the laugh-out-loud funny, live-action sequence, the off-beat sense of humor that helped define the original is intact, as well.

A console sequel for an indie PC game is a pretty impressive achievement, especially for one developed by eight Swedish students. Magicka 2’s mix of co-op action, humor and beautiful spell effects make it one to watch in the coming months.
