Savvy players have discovered the popular multiplayer game type Warzone still exists on Gears of War: Judgment's disc despite not being part of the game whatsoever.

Originally part of Epic's Gears of War trilogy, People Can Fly opted to keep Warzone out of the multiplayer for its sequel, Gears of War: Judgment. At least, that's what we thought until Eurogamer discovered players had found the mode was still written in Judgment's code.

Accessing the mode is simple as pie. After creating a Private match, select Team Deathmatch and press A. During the next prompt, press A and B together. The game will then say, "You are about to start a match. Continue?" Press A again, and when the match starts, you'll be playing the familiar Warzone.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this means a full-scale Warzone mode will be introduced into Judgment. Senior multiplayer programmer Peter Knepley told a fan on Twitter Warzone merely exists as leftover code from Gears of War 3, and it would have been more trouble to remove than just leave it buried.

Do you miss Warzone? Will you be getting together with your friends to try and play the classic mode tonight?
