After a bit of a hiatus from the public eye (leading to many of us forgetting it even existed), a new gameplay trailer for Epic Games' Fortnite has hit the Internet and we're happy to be reminded of its existence, because it's looking really cool.

The first half of the video shows the building portion of Fortnite, with a team of players scavenging the area for resources and items in the area surrounding the fort, looking for anything that will help them in the nightly defense of the fort from monsters.

Once night falls we see the second half of Fortnite's gameplay formula: defending the fort from the aforementioned monsters. Players can set traps and craft weapons in order to fight the scourge, but the main task is closing "The Gate" where the monsters are coming from by building an "Atlas Device" on it. The monsters won't like you trying to close the game, and they'll come for you once you starting building the Atlas Device. The demo then moves to direct combat, showing off the Ninja and some other combat classes.

We don't quite understand the direct terminology like "Atlas Device," but we're rather impressed with this Fortnite demo. It looks like a crazy Minecraft/tower defense hybrid with monsters galore, and that's exactly what we expected from it. If you want to check it out for yourself, watch the video then sign up for the Alpha over on the Fortnite website.
