These new pictures for Dragon Quest XI showoff how astonishing the game looks for both its PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions.

Square Enix released some new screenshots of the upcoming role-playing game, Dragon Quest XI, and things are look quite awesome. Courtesy of Destructoid, these pictures showcase an all new adventure featuring some sweet, cel-shaded visuals. There's something about the animated enemies and main character's renderings here that really pop when compared to their backgrounds. We get to see those Akira Toriyama visuals in full effect here.

In the gallery provided below, you can see a variety of pictures from both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS version of the game. As you would expect, the PlayStation 4's screenshots looks absolutely pristine. The Nintendo 3DS version takes some interesting changes to make the game look fresh while still adhering to a more familiar theme. You can tell by the smaller, chibi-like character designs that the 3DS is going to feature the same characters, but with a different style of presentation. You're actually able to switch between modern graphics and a classic, top-down look whenever you want that renders everything kind of like a 16-bit era Dragon Quest title, which is awesome.

Unfortunately, there is no kind of launch window yet for Dragon Quest XI, but it's probably going to launch towards the end of 2016 at the earliest. It is expected to launch for the PlayStation 4, 3DS and supposedly the Nintendo NX.
