Konami's been suffering a culling of talent as of late, with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima likely leaving for more cardboard box-filled pastures and Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi searching for whips and hearts elsewhere. While it's not clear exactly what IGA's next project will be, thanks to a new teaser site from him, we've got a pretty good idea what it'll be about.

If you head over to swordorwhip.com (courtesy of Destructoid) you'll find a neat animated vote set up to allow you to pick between a sword and a whip. What's it for? Who knows! Given the success of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune's Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to the blue bomber, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Igarashi make a similar move to create something that's dark, delicious, and oh-so Metroidvania-esque.

Sometimes larger companies lose their way; they stop focusing on making fun games and instead think too much about trying to make profitable games and crush all creativity in the process. With the constantly shifting video game marketplace, we've seen many cases like IGA's where a talented, famous video game creator leaves their parent company to pursue projects near and dear to their hearts. With the power of Kickstarter and other similar crowd-funding projects, we no longer have to worry about these creative minds finding work — they'll find it themselves (with a little help from a few hundred thousand loyal fans). Hopefully Igarashi will soon reveal what's going on with the enigmatic Sword or Whip site, but for now we'll just have to content ourselves with that awesome little sprite of him as Dracula.

We have a feeling we're in for some kind of spiritual successor to the Castlevania series, which would be amazing (just as long as it's 2D).
