The Xbox Gamescom 2014 press conference kicked off this morning with a brand new cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Unity, the first current-gen exclusive game in the series.

The two-minute trailer gives us a glimpse of the streets of Paris, where Unity is set, complete with a few injustices befalling some citizens thanks to the local law enforcement. We then switch to a church, where an unnamed man is giving a speech to a group of people while Arno, our assassin, silently makes his way to the church and finds himself a perch in the ceiling above the speaking man. As the trailer winds down, Arno leaps from his perch and descends on the oblivious man, but we don't get to see the payoff, instead switching to Arno in front of a mysterious council of Assassins.

This trailer has almost everything you'd expect from an Assassin's Creed trailer: beautiful cityscapes, impressive parkour, and enemy soldiers being jerks to the people they're supposed to be protecting. The only thing we didn't get was an assassination by Arno himself, though we fully expect to get our fill soon enough.

Assassin's Creed: Unity launches Oct. 28 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
