So a new generation of consoles has come out, which means you are going to have to drop a load of money on a new set of controllers… or do you? Maybe instead of purchasing four Xbox One controllers, you just want to use the Xbox 360 controllers that you already have. Well luckily, you can! All you need is a controller converter. Thankfully, the guys over at CronusMax have one that works for most consoles.

The CronusMax accepts inputs from an Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Wii or Wii U controller, and converts them to the proper format for your system of choice. For now, it supports the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Xbox One, with PS4 support coming in the future. Yes, this does mean that you can use your PS4 controllers on your Xbox One, or even your Xbox 360 controllers if you prefer them. It also means that you can use all of your old arcade sticks on new consoles without having to drop another $200

Another bonus is that the CronusMax can actually convert a keyboard and mouse to be compatible with your console of choice. Yes, this means you can have KBAM accuracy in the Xbox 360/One version of Call of Duty ghosts. You can also remap your controller buttons any way you like. This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for most games, but if you are an importer, it might make you happy to actually let "X" be select and "O" be cancel, like any sane PlayStation game.

The CronusMax actually uses a computer interface to help you synch your controllers. It comes with a small program that allows  you to register the controllers that you want to convert. You just plug it into your computer, boot up the program, follow the on-screen instructions and then you are good to go. Just unplug the converter from your computer, plug it into your system of choice and you are ready to use any controller that you paired.

There is one downside though; the CronusMax doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth or Radio Wireless capability. So to wirelessly synch it with, say, a Wii or PlayStation 3 controller, you will have to use your own Bluetooth dongle. Luckily, you can pick up one of these for cheap off Amazon. The same goes for Xbox One or Xbox 360 wireless controllers. You’ll have to have an appropriate receiver attached via USB to get them to work. Wired controllers, on the other hand, work fine no matter what.

For more information about the CronusMax, head on over to the official CronusMax website. It also includes instructions on how to use the converter and links to online retailers. A CronusMax will run you $60, but can connect several controllers at once. Even so, it might not be the best choice for anyone looking to play with a GamePad, but for arcade stick and keyboard and mouse users, it’s a great way to save some money.
