Getting cybernetic implants to make you a better ninja can sometimes take longer than expected. The announcement of a new, companion comic book to Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z also came with confirmation from Tecmo Koei its cyborg slasher would have a slight delay. Fortunately, this ninja lurking in the shadows is closer than you think.

The official Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z website has announced a deal with Dark Horse Comics in order to make a three-part series featuring Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z; and that comic is now digitally available on the official Dark Horse website. Those looking to buy physical copies of the Yaiba comic series can do so when it hits local comic book shops this March. Even better, the physical comic now coincides with Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z's new release date of Mar. 18. Unfortunately, this means that Yaiba has been pushed back two weeks from its original release date.

For those who have yet to know why we're so excited about Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, it's being helmed by Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mighty No. 9 and co-creator of Mega Man. Yaiba: NGZ is about a ninja named Yaiba Kamikaze, who lives up to his namesake by challenging Ninja Gaiden mainstay Ryu Hayabusa to a fight and gets sliced to shreds. Yaiba then wakes up to find that his lost appendages have been replaced by cybernetic limbs, making him stronger, faster and all that bionic good stuff. Did we mention that Yaiba: NGZ revolves around you playing this robotic ninja as he fights off a zombie invasion? That's right, we said robotic ninjas and zombies. Be prepared for this ultimate mashup when it hits PC, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on Mar. 18.
