The 2D sandbox of Terraria is getting a little bit bigger and whole lot prettier.

505 Games has announced that its indie hit, Terraria, is going to be making the jump to next-gen. Terraria originally debuted on PC back in 2011 and has gone on to iOS, Android, PS Vita, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Now, it looks as if the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are the next destinations for this imaginative side-scrolling adventure. 505 Games has confirmed that all of Terraria's 1.2 content will be included with its next-gen editions along with some new functions. We're guessing that many of these new features will be unveiled at E3 next week and we hope that the PS4's touchpad will be integrated into Terraria's controls.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Terraria are due in late 2014. There will be cross-play and cross-save features between the PS Vita and PlayStation 4 version of the game.
