The weirdest swordsman in fighting game history gets an even stranger makeover as Bandai Namco Games released a Tekken 7 trailer for Yoshimitsu.

Bandai Namco Games' latest trailer for Tekken 7 showcases the Cthulhu and Forerunner-esque makeover for Yoshimitsu. Yoshimitsu has appeared in numerous Tekken and Soul games, and his look kept changing with each new title. We've seen him depicted as a demon samurai, a cybernetic ninja and all kinds of other bizarre getups. It's easy to love how awesome he is, as his unorthodox fighting style is always entertaining to watch and even more fun to play. Watching him fight Voldo in Soulcalibur was already strange enough. We'll never forget his crazy suicide move, because if you're going to go, you might as well should take someone with you.

Yoshimitsu was mainly used as a distraction so other members of his fellow ninjas at the Manji Clan would infiltrate the King of the Iron Fist tournament and steal all kinds of awesome tech and secrets. Unfortunately, Bryan Fury has been a thorn in his side for many years, as he is a cyborg designed to take out Yoshimitsu. We're not sure why it looks like we need to go Super Saiyan to stop this new incarnation of the silly samurai, but Yoshimitsu is looking quite badass.

Tekken 7 will be making its formal arcade debut on May 12 throughout Japan. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Tekken 7 are in development, but we have a feeling we won't see them reach Western shores until 2016.
