Duncan Jones, the filmmaker behind the well received sci-fi film Moon and the time travel feature Source Code, has been tapped to direct a film adaptation of Warcraft. Shooting on the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will begin this fall with a tentative 2015 release date.

Charles Leavitt, who penned the screenplays for K-PAX and Blood Diamond, is writing the screenplay for the project, which was initially set to be directed by Sam Raimi.

Jones, whose father is rocker David Bowie, was initially developing another sci-fi film that he claimed was a homage to Blade Runner, and back in May he was also attached to direct a biopic on James Bond writer Ian Fleming. With his latest foray into the World of Warcraft, Jones embarks on his most ambitious cinematic undertaking to date.
