It looks like we can expect the brand new versions of our pals in Sonic Boom to make their debut in May 2014.

At Toy Fair 2014, a Tomy public relations representative told us that we can expect the 3DS and Wii U versions of Sonic Boom to arrive some time in May. They also gave us word that the release window for the actual animated series will be in September.

Sonic Boom was recently announced as a new branch of the Sonic franchise, encompassing the world of video games, television and merchandise manufactured by Tomy, such as toys, apparel and more. There's no word on any hard release dates, but at least we have an idea of when to expect the Blue Blur's arrival. We'll keep you updated as more information is made available.

Update: A Sega rep responded denying Tomy's assertion Sonic Boom for the Wii U and 3DS would release in May, and that the TV show was slated for a September launch. The game is still reportedly without a release date, and the show is merely set to arrive during the 2014/2015 season. A previous version of this story incorrectly attributed a statement as Sega's official response.
