After some interesting decisions regarding the release of Rayman Legends, a new report indicated creator Michel Ancel and several members of his creative team would leave publisher Ubisoft once the game shipped.

According to sources speaking with French site GameKult (and translated by VG247), Ancel was interested in more creative control over his work. With the release date debacle surrounding Rayman Legends, it's not hard to see where some of the motivation for leaving could have come from. The report also indicated Ancel would be taking some of the Rayman Legends team with him when he potentially leaves in September.

However, since the story first broke, Ubisoft has rebuffed the original report. "Unfounded rumours!" said a Ubisoft France spokesperson to Eurogamer. "Michel is currently working on Rayman Legends, a unique game that will be released on Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3. Michel Ancel and Ubisoft therefore categorically deny these rumours." Whether or not that's just damage control stepping in to avoid any more issues in the months between now and Rayman's September release remains to be seen.
