Ratchet and Clank Film Set for April 2016 Release, Star-Studded Cast Revealed
The first foray for Sony's Lombax and robot duo Ratchet and Clank into the feature film realm now has a firm release window, while also sporting one of the strongest cast lists we've ever seen for an animated feature.
The film, whose American rights are now owned by Focus Features, is due for release in April 2016 right before the summer movie rush. If it were up to us, we'd release Ratchet and Clank on the Friday before Easter, as that's an entire week where its main target audience has total freedom with schools being out. We hope Focus is thinking the same way.
In crazier news, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the voice cast list for the upcoming picture, and holy crap is it really impressive. The voice cast from the games are all reprising their roles for the film, so that's all of the recognizable faces taken care of, but the film is adding Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Sylvester Stallone, Bella Thorne and Rosario Dawson to the cast, giving the Ratchet and Clank movie immediate and strong star power.
This could not be better news for Ratchet and Clank fans looking forward to this movie. Adding stars like this means two things: the production team has deep pockets to make the film as impressive as possible, and the script is of a high enough quality that these established movie stars have signed on. We don't know who exactly they're going to play, but damn if we're not really excited about hearing them all with the original Ratchet and Clank cast. This project is shaping up to be something special.
Ratchet and Clank hits theaters nationwide on April 26, 2016.
