More bad news for Wii U owners with a penchant for sports games, as EA has confirmed it has no plans to bring Madden NFL 25 to the console.

Though the Wii U hadn't been mentioned in any of the marketing materials for Madden NFL 25, there was no hard evidence EA was planning to avoid putting the latest entry on Nintendo's console this year. Fans were still hopeful EA might bring the anniversary-fueled entry to the Wii U, but it now is certain there will be no joy in Maddenville this year. Well, at least as far as Nintendo fans are concerned.

"We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013," EA said in a statement to Nintendo World Report. "However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future."

The lack of Madden is just another blow in a long string of third-party developers paying no mind to the Wii U. Earlier in the week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata championed that more games would be coming from the company's third-party partners, and that the Wii U was still a viable platform. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like those partners share the same sentiments.
