Super Mario has set yet another milestone. This time, it was for NIntendo's last-gen system.

Nintendo of America's official Twitter has announced that the 2009 hit, New Super Mario Bros. Wii has broke the 10 million sold mark in the United States. Of course, this only reflects a certain percentage of the game's worldwide sales and does not show how well the game did in Japan, Europe and other regions throughout the globe. Nintendo claims that the game has sold over 28 million units worldwide as of March 31 of this year.

Nintendo released a follow-up to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, called New Super Mario Bros. 2, for the the Nintendo 3DS in August 2012. In Nov. 2012, the Wii U debuted with the game's sequel, New Super Mario Bros. U, as a launch title.
