Mighty Gunvolt’s DLC Stages Offer Old-School Action

The retro-fueled action platformer Mighty Gunvolt gets an infusion of new levels thanks to DLC inspired by Gun Gal, Azure Striker Gunvolt and the upcoming Mighty No. 9.

As you can see from the trailer above (thanks to Destructoid), Mighty Gunvolt's DLC pack offers four new stages to test your gaming mettle. Mighty No. 1's stage and boss fight takes bits and pieces from every flame-based robot master from the Mega Man series,  so expect a fair share of instant-deaths by lava. Mighty No. 7's stage is a fast-paced battle with the backdrop of a crimson sunset. Gal Gun's Mr. Happiness has a stage that is just as gentle-looking and cute as he is, but if there's anything we've learned from Keiji Inafune, it's that the cuter something is, the more it probably wants to kill you. Lastly, Azure Striker Gunvolt's Elise brings her bipolar brand of trouble to the 8-bit world of Mighty Gunvolt. Given Elise was quite the nasty boss battle before, you can probably expect her to put up a hell of a fight. With these new levels comes a game update, re-balanced enemies and bonus playable characters alike to make Mighty Gunvolt a better experience.

The Mighty Gunvolt DLC is now available for $2.99 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
