Batman and Superman are scheduled to share the screen next year in 'Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice' but before that, they’ll be teaming up in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Today TT Games gives us our first look at the third entry in the Lego Batman series, releasing a trailer and a set of screenshots.

Whereas previous chapters have been set in Gotham City, this time around Batman and friends will spend the majority of their time in space. As teased in the last scene of Lego Batman 2, Brainiac will be the main villain of the game. Using the power of stolen Lantern rings, Brainiac has shrunken various cities from across the DC galaxy to add to his collection. Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League will need to travel to these shrunken cities and free them from Brainiac’s control.

With over 150 characters to unlock, Lego Batman 3 will have the biggest roster in a Lego game yet, and the trailer shows us that the series’ trademark sense of humor is intact. First seen in LegoMarvel Super Heroes, “Big Figs” will make an appearance in Lego Batman 3, with characters like Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy represented by upsized figures.

All of the various Lego series have improved with each iteration, and Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham looks to be no exception to this rule. We’re still waiting for the rumored Lego DC/Marvel crossover, but this will just have to hold us over until that project materializes.
