The game that's too controversial for its own good, Hatred, has been reinstated on Steam Greenlight just days after its removal.

Destructive Creation's official Facebook page has announced that Hatred has returned to Steam Greenlight after being taken off of Valve's service just a few days ago. The game was removed due to its controversy. For those in the dark about Hatred, it's a twin-stick shooter where you pull off mass shootings in public - innocent civilians, cops and random bystanders are the character's targets. With all the school and mass shootings that have gone on in the United States over the years, it's no surprise that this hit hard with a lot of people caught a lot of negative feedback. Fortunately for the Poland-based team at Destructive Creations, any publicity is good publicity as Hatred managed to hit #7 on Steam Greenlight's top 100 list in just a couple hours of its debut (before it was pulled).

Jaroslaw Zielinski, the CEO of Destructive Creations and its lead animator, recently posted the news of Hatred being reinstated on Steam Greenlight on the team's official Facebook. "PEOPLE!! Guess what? We're back on Steam Greenlight!!! Vote again!" the website announced.

Also posted was an email supposedly sent from Valve co-founder and managing director Gabe Newell to Zielinski (please note this email is not 100 percent verified to be from Newell as it was posted only by Destructive Creations):

Hi, Jaroslaw.

Yesterday I heard that we were taking Hatred down from Greenlight. I wasn't up to speed, I asked around internally to find out why we had done that. It turns out that wasn't a good decision, and we'll be putting Hatred back up. My apologies to you and your team. Steam is about creating tools for content creators and customers.

Good luck with your game.

Gabe

Regardless of the email, Hatred is definitely back on Steam. Try it out, if you've got the stomach for that sort of thing.
