Google Glass Senior Hardware Engineer Joins Oculus VR Team
One of the designers of Google Glass is going to be working on the Oculus Rift.
According to CVG, Adrian Wong, the senior hardware engineer of the Explorer Edition of Google Glass, has left the company and is joining Oculus VR. The Explorer Edition is one of the first versions of Google Glass ever made available. Wong was also the hardware engineering manager for the glass' Consumer Edition that will be coming out in a much more abundant rate than the Explorer Edition. He also did the product design and architecture of the Consumer Edition. For the Google Glass Explorer Edition, Wong did the display subsystem design along with making hardware prototypes.
Wong's addition to the Oculus VR ranks puts him together with renowned Valve programmers Michael Abrash and Aaron Nicolls, who both recently joined the Facebook-owned company. Given the innovation Wong brought to Google Glass, we're sure that he will be an amazing asset to the Oculus Rift. If anything, Facebook's acquisition has allowed the Oculus team to bring in some major talent. What the developers do with that talent, well, that remains to be seen.
