The game retailer giant said it already has more than half-a-million people signed up to be the first to know about the PlayStation 4's availability.

Though nobody outside of Sony knows when or where the PlayStation 4 will launch, let alone how much it will cost, there are plenty of people dying to find out. Almost immediately after the PS4 was announced, Gamestop opened a First to Know list for its PowerUp Rewards customers. Since the PlayStation 4 unveiling event one month ago, Gamestop has already wracked up 600,000 different customers on that list.

“With only a glance at the PS4, gamers are excited and eager to know more,” said GameStop president Tony Bartel. “Within just a few weeks, more than 600,000 people have signed up, showing strong demand for this new console.” That's just the response from Gamestop. Other retailers like Best Buy and Amazon would likely yield similar results.

"Our goal with PlayStation 4 is to deliver inspiring and creative play experiences that gamers have never seen before,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “The level of enthusiasm we’re seeing from GameStop customers demonstrates how the promise of PS4 is resonating with gamers, and we’re looking forward to unveiling more about the new platform in the coming months."
