After he was fired as CEO of Groupon, Andrew Mason delivered a memorable, forthright and funny goodbye letter to his employees. It was not as showy as Howard Beale's prophetic monologue in Network, or as eye opening as Jerry Maguire's "you complete me" wooing of Dorothy (Renee Zellweger), but Mason did leave his mark by mentioning Battletoads!

At just 32, Mason is worth over $200 million, and even though he holds himself accountable for Groupon's financial woes, he didn't write a somber missive. Instead, he dropped a little Nintendo Entertainment System gaming love for a little levity.

"I love Groupon, and I'm terribly proud of what we've created," penned Mason. "I'm OK with having failed at this part of the journey. If Groupon was Battletoads, it would be like I made it all the way to the Terra Tubes without dying on my first ever play through."

Referencing a popular NES title and making jokes like, "I was fired today, if you're wondering why...you haven't been paying attention" proves he knows his way around witty banter. Mason also released his letter to the public, claiming his words would have eventually leaked anyway.
