Much like any game involving Superman, there just seems to be something about the Ghostbusters franchise that leads to so-so games. Perhaps it has to do with unrealistic expectations from superfans. Or maybe it's the characters. Whatever the case may be, there has yet to be a classic in either franchise.

Okay, so the Ghostbusters game that came out back in 2009 was pretty good. But that was for consoles. There has yet to be a truly great mobile Ghostbusters game. However, Capcom is looking to remedy that situation.

The legendary game company has turned to Beeline, their social mobile division responsible for hits like Smurfs' Village, to lead the charge on a free-to-play social game set in the Ghostbusters universe.

There's not a lot of information out there yet. According to Capcom, you will be occupying a firehouse in New York, where you will run your very own paranormal eradication operation. Since it will be a freemium title, it's safe to assume that most of the gameplay will be management-based. We are thinking it might be similar to something along the lines of The Simpsons: Tapped Out.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait until sometime in early 2013 for something strange to come spookin' around our App Store neighborhood. Until then, we will be sure to keep you updated on anything we find out.
