Omega Force’s Attack on Titan Heads to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita
It's time to rally the Survey Corps (or Scouting Legion or whatever else it was awkwardly translated to) and get ready for another Attack on Titan game.
Koei Tecmo has released some footage for its new game based on the popular anime series Attack on Titan (I know there's a manga series, but the game uses the anime's character designs, not the manga's). This game is coming from Omega Force, a subsidiary studio of Koei Tecmo primarily known for their own on the Dynasty Warriors series, as well as Hyrule Warriors and Dragon Quest Heroes. It's going to be interesting to see their take on Shingeki no Kyojin, especially considering how hard the 3DS' Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains failed. Spike Chunsoft released the last Attack on Titan game as an overpriced cash-grab and Omega Force has their work cut out for them.
While Attack on Titan gameplay on the PlayStation 4 seems like a great concept, I've seen firsthand how bad an AoT game can be. Here's to hoping they're actually aiming to make a quality game and not just trying to sucker in fans of the series. I'm always skeptical when video game trailers feature montages of numerous 2-second-long gameplay clips. Oftentimes, game trailers show you footage in short increments in order to hide their fallacies. Nevertheless, Omega Force has done some solid work in the past and I'll give them the benefit of a doubt. At the same time, it's going to be a tough sell knowing we're visiting the Trost and Female Titan arcs yet again, which is a huge reminder that they're years late on the anime series' next season.
While no release date has been set, we probably won't be seeing Attack on Titan hit the PS4, PS3 or PS Vita until 2016.
