The next Assassin's Creed game has been revealed, and the next urban playground we'll be playing hunter in is none other than the highly rumored Victorian London. The game is called Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and it centers around an all-new Assassin named Jacob Frye and his twin sister Evie.

Headed by Ubisoft Quebec, the game will be framed around the English Industrial Revolution and the struggle between the poor and the rich within the city. The Assassins and Templars will factor into the conflict as they always do in Assassin's Creed games, with a few hints on how the industrial technology will be used against the Templars. One example is a steam pipe being broken and blinding an enemy, showing that these new Assassins are taking a page from fellow Ubisoft character Aiden Pearce's book.

We see a bit of hand-to-hand combat as well, including Jacob's arsenal of weapons: the Kukri curved blade, a revolver, brass knuckles, and the brand new Assassin's Gauntlet which contains the Hidden Blade, rope darts, hallucinogenic darts, and more. The environment can be used against enemies, as we see Jacob drop a palate on barrels on an unsuspecting enemy below, killing him instantly.

London is but one of seven boroughs that the player will travel through in the game, using a new Batman-esque zip dart, horse-drawn carts and trains to get around faster. The video didn't elaborate on the other six boroughs, only seeing the "city of London," but that alone is vast and holds plenty for the Assassin to do.

All in all this looks like more Assassin's Creed, which, this particular year, comes with more pressure after the less-than-stellar Assassin's Creed Unity launch. The setting is new and interesting, the brother-sister Assassin duo is an interesting angle, and we're looking forward to seeing more from this Syndicate. We do have one request: it's Victorian London, so an appearance by (and hopefully battle with) Jack The Ripper is an absolute must.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will launch Oct. 23 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can check out the game in action in the new footage below.
