Thanks to a premature posting on Amazon, we have found a very convincing but unconfirmed release date for the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode.

Courtesy of Destructoid, we have learned that Amazon posted a listing for Minecraft: Story Mode. While plenty of games get posted on Amazon prior to their release, we only had the vague launch window of fall 2015 as to when we should expect the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode. According to the listing of this disc that will unlock all five episodes, we're still a little over seven weeks away from the release of the game's first chapter.

Here's Story Mode's official synopsis from the listing:

As Jesse, you'll embark on a perilous adventure across the Over world, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, you and your friends discover that something is wrong. something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion. A five-part episodic series with the disc including episode one, and grants access to four more episodes as they become available to download (Internet connection required).

According to Amazon (again, nothing has been confirmed by Telltale Games), Episode One of Minecraft: Story Mode will launch on Oct. 27. The game is expected to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, iOS and Android. Based on Telltale's previous titles, this release date might slightly vary according to the system (usually off by a day or two). The actual disc being sold on Amazon (priced at $29.99) will give you instant access to Story Mode's episodes once each one is released.

From the description, Minecraft: Story Mode will have the following features:

  • Created by award-winning adventure game powerhouse Telltale Games, in partnership with Minecraft creators, Mojang
  • Featuring the voices of Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Brian Posehn (The Sarah Silverman Program, Mission Hill), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us, Tales from the Borderlands), Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights, X-Men), Dave Fennoy (The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series, Batman: Arkham Knight), Martha Plimpton (The Goonies, Raising Hope), Corey Feldman (The Goonies, Stand by Me), Billy West (Futurama, Adventure Time), Paul Reubens (Tron: Uprising, Pee-Wee's Playhouse)
  • You will drive the story through the decisions you make: what you say to people (and how you say it), and what you choose to do in moments of thrilling action will make this YOUR story.
