Like Rydia, Sabin is another character whose sheer popularity and likability make it hard not to give him a spot on this list. He also was one of the first characters to incorporate some different gameplay elements into the franchise, spicing up the standard Final Fantasy menu selecting with some Street Fighter-esque gamepad moves via his Blitz attacks. And if you messed up while trying to pull one of those moves off, Sabin would not perform that special ability, so there was a visceral satisfaction in landing something big, especially at a key moment in a battle. Plus, we're pretty sure that Sabin is the only character in Final Fantasy history that has suplexed a train. His story is a great one too, following his divergent path from his brother Edgar, before reuniting with him and combining efforts to preserve their desert kingdom while also trying to save the rest of the world.
