Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Delayed to Spring 2016
It looks like Nathan and Samuel Drake will be taking a little bit longer to get their new adventure started as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been delayed to Spring 2016.
Neil Druckmann, the Creative Director of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, who also wrote and directed The Last of Us, has announced on the PlayStation Blog that Nathan Drake's next major game won't be released until the Spring of next year. It looks like Naughty Dog is trying to make sure the game is perfect before its release, trying to avoid the shortcomings of Uncharted 3, which was an excellent action game on its own but many felt that it wasn't as great as its two predecessors. A Thief's End was originally meant to have launched sometime before the end of 2015 exclusively for PlayStation 4. If Naughty Dog is pushing Uncharted 4 to Spring 2016, we have a feeling we won't be seeing any kind of sequel to The Last of Us until well into 2017.
Here's what Druckmann had to say about the project's big delay:
More of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.
After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don’t take lightly — this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.
Thank you for your patience — we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.
Stay tuned as we'll provide up-to-date coverage on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End once Naughty Dog announces more information about the Nathan Drake's next adventure.
