The Last of Us: Left Behind Available as Standalone Content
Ellie's gripping backstory can be downloaded on its own as The Last of Us: Left Behind will be available as a standalone DLC.
If you're lucky enough to own a Playstation 3 or 4, yet unlucky enough to have played The Last of Us or its equally excellent DLC, Left Behind, now's your chance to play the latter without having to pay for the former, as Sony's announced they're releasing the DLC as a standalone title.
The Last of Us was a resounding hit, telling an intimate, human story in the center of a dark, yet lush, apocalypse. Ellie, the young deuteragonist of The Last of Us, stars in Left Behind, which is set before the events of the main game. During Left Behind, Ellie and her friend Riley sneak out of school to hang out at the (ruined) mall one last time before Riley leaves to join the resistance group the Fireflies. In addition to playing through the story mode, those who buy the standalone title will get a trial to the Factions Multiplayer mode. You can, of course, continue from there to shell out the money to buy the full single-player and multiplayer games, should you so choose. Regardless of how you do it, exactly, if you own a Playstation 3 or 4 and somehow haven't played The Last of Us yet, do yourself a favor and get it and this delightful DLC — it's one of the finest games ever made, bar none.
The Last of Us: Left Behind will hit the PlayStation Network on May 12th, and it's priced at $10.
