Nintendo has unveiled all kinds of in-game, unlockable goodies and features you'll get to experience in Super Mario Maker.

Just when we thought we knew the gist of Super Mario Maker's main features, Nintendo threw a curve ball our way. In this overview video for Super Mario Maker, we learn there's a lot to do when it comes to construction in the Mushroom Kingdom. While you're able to make levels using enemies, blocks, obstacles and other assets from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros., there are plenty of other goodies and tricks you can use that we just learned about today. Let's say you pick up a block or an enemy to drop somewhere onto the stage, you can shake it before dropping it to toggle an alternate mode for the asset. For example, Koopa Troopas can be changed to just a Koopa Shell. You can attach notes and sounds to music blocks or even trigger various kinds of events, like fireworks. You're also able to drop Mushrooms onto enemies to make them bigger.

Watching an entire melody spawn out of Super Mario Maker's music blocks in a single stage reminds me of how creative players were when it came to Mario Paint. We also learned that over 50 amiibo figurines will be compatible with the game. It's going to be interesting to see Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man crossover into Mario's stages. Also, the more you build, the more unlockables you gain over time for your Super Mario stages. Nintendo's delivery system encourages daily level builds in order to continuously unlock more content.

Super Mario Maker will launch on Sept. 11 for Wii U.
