Nintendo Announces Mario Kart 8’s Mercedes-Benz DLC is No Longer Japan-Only

Luigi might have that cold-blooded death stare in Mario Kart 8, but it won't matter when you blaze past him in a Mercedes-Benz.

Nintendo of America has just tweeted that the Mercedes-Benz downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 will be coming to North America and Europe. The Mercedes-Benz DLC was originally going to be a Japanese exclusive to commemorate the release of the Mercedes-Benz GLA line of luxury vehicles overseas.

We still don't think it's a better ride than Bowser's mini-airship or the carousel kart, but the Mercedes-Benz DLC offers an excellent alternative for the shell-filled roads of Mario Kart 8. Hopefully, this new ride will be a free download like it was in Japan -- who knows how many Mushroom Kingdom coins you would need to buy a Benz. Nevertheless, nothing will beat power-sliding past someone in such a sleek vehicle.
