Fans of Microsoft Points and the art of converting them to real currency might be disappointed to find out that Microsoft will bring local currency to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.

According to a post on Xbox Wire, the transition from MSP to local currency should be an easy one, since they'll let customers upload codes from a MSP card and then convert it to an amount in local currency that is equal or greater than the Marketplace value of the MSP.

In late 2013, Microsoft will also be rolling out Xbox Gift Cards in order to open up more options for payment. Points cards will still be available to be redeemed and any points you've earned through Xbox Live Rewards will also be converted to local currency.

What do you think of this move? Are you happy that they're phasing out Microsoft Points in exchange for local currency? Let us know!
