Microsoft Studio's want ad for a lead software engineer suggests that a certain well-known strategy franchise could be returning.

CVG reports that an established strategy franchise could be returning based on a Microsoft job listing on the company's career site. The site is searching for a principal software development engineer to work at Microsoft Studios' headquarters based in Redmond, Washington. Part of the job listing reads as follows:

"Microsoft Studios is looking for a highly experienced senior games developer to help build and lead the team for a new AAA title within an established and well-loved strategy game franchise."

The website does not specify the identity of the game nor any of the systems it could be released on. Two possible games the game might be referring to could be Halo Wars or the Age of Empires series. Both Age of Empires and Halo Wars were done by Ensemble Studios, a subsidiary studio of Microsoft that was disbanded in 2009. Fortunately, Microsoft Studios still owns the rights to both of these franchises, making them both likely choices.
