EA Sports has posted a first look trailer for Madden NFL 16 in celebration of the New York Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. gracing the game's cover.

ESPN and EA Sports have announced that New York York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has beaten New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown and Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson for the cover spot on Madden NFL 16. Beckham Jr. won the illustrious cover athlete spot through a series of in-game voting sessions on Madden NFL's mobile app and ESPN.com. As you would expect, Beckham Jr.'s cover pose is going to feature his iconic one-handed catch. Beckham certainly deserves the spot, having caught 91 passes and earning over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns for the New York Giants during his rookie season, which earned him the prestigious NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. At 22 years of age, Beckham Jr. is the youngest player to ever grace a Madden cover.

We should note that fans are worried that Beckham will fall victim to what many call the "Madden Curse," as previous Madden cover athletes struggled after their spotlight in the game. Former cover stars, such as Ray Lewis, Michael Vick, Donavan McNabb and Marshall Faulk, were met with serious injuries during the years of them being on a Madden game cover. Likewise, Peyton Hillis and Brett Favre had rough seasons during the years they were cover athletes as well. Nevertheless, we have faith in a guy as talented as Beckham Jr.

Madden NFL 16 will hit the gridiron on Aug. 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
