Dark Souls 3 Trailer: This Gameplay Footage Is to Die For
We get our first look at Dark Souls 3's gameplay. As expected, it features a lot of things that can kill you, including bigger, scarier enemies.
Xbox gave the world its first look at Dark Souls 3's gameplay during its Gamescom 2015 presentation. While there was a trailer that aired during E3 2015, it only featured cinematic footage. This time, we get to see what the in-game engine looks like and just how badass and unstoppable these new monsters are. As expected, death will ensue due to the dangers of dungeon crawling. From Software learned a lot from Bloodborne going into Dark Souls 3, as the monsters here have taken a darker turn, so expect stronger and faster foes. That one scene of the giant skeleton head reminded me of Castlevania, but this looked a lot more frightening considering how small you were compared to its teeth.. Nevertheless, I can't wait to fight it. The enemies are getting bigger and more agile, which is going to result in a lot of deaths for many would-be adventurers out there.
From Software is certainly perfecting its craft when it comes to noir-style dungeon crawling. But in all honesty, after all this monster hunting, I remain hopeful that one day From Software will release some competent, modern games for the Tenchu and Armored Core series. Considering how successful Bloodborne was, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing a sequel.
Dark Souls 3 will launch sometime in early 2015 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
