Despite the numerous, ongoing updates coming to Destiny, Bungie does not plan to introduce matchmaking to the game's massive raids.

IGN reports that Bungie will not be implementing matchmaking into Destiny's raids. Luke Smith, a Lead Designer for Bungie, has explained that the reason his team is not thinking about implementing matchmaking at the moment is because they want to first figure out a creative way to do it.

"We're certainly noticing that there is voracity in the fanbase for content that makes them think -- content that challenges them in some different ways," Smith said. "The way I'm thinking about this problem is how we're going to create that kind of content and create those kinds of emotions in matchmade activities. I think that's the challenge. It's not how do we change the raid-design philosophy to allow for matchmaking."

He does go on to say that he hopes to, one day, implement a way for players to "advertise [their] intent to people" such as the "community-driven sites [that help] individual players link up with one another." However, Smith ended that idea by firmly stating, "we have absolutely no plans to do raid matchmaking at this time."

While this may be unfortunate for the players who aren't on the same gaming schedule as their friends, Bungie will be releasing The Dark Below on Dec. 9 and a lot of content along with it.
