Fluidity

Nintendo

Want to move some water? Sure, that doesn't sound that fun, but video games have always had a knack for making the mundane seem awesome. After all, Burger Time is about making hamburgers, and yet, it's awesome. Fluidity manages to make awesomeness out of nothingness thanks to sharp level design, even sharper graphics, and intuitive controls.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Nintendo

Space ... the final frontier. These are the voyages of Mario, a plumber with a penchant for rescuing princesses and collecting stars. Mario games are known for being high quality affairs, and SMG2 is no different. There's a level of polish and imagination present here that's sorely lacking in other games. You'll inflate a Yoshi and float around on him, you'll go ice-skating in outer space, and yeah, you'll bop Bowser in his ugly nose.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Nintendo

Opting to go with a more colorful style, LoZ: SS embraces the fun and freedom that goes along with being an adventurer. Like Wind Waker before it, Skyward Sword is about the exhilarating sense of exploration, the wonderment you feel when discovering a secret dungeon, or that rush you get when opening a chest. The game also makes extensive use of the Wii Motion Plus. When you swipe the Wiimote to the side, Link swipes his sword to the side. If you swing it up and down, so does he. If you drop it, well, you're probably dead. With this enhanced motion comes an enhanced depth of character. You'll feel immersed more deeply than ever before into Link's escapades.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Nintendo

The Legend of Zelda games are unusual in that they're all entirely the same and simultaneously different. Sure, you'll always collect bombs, a bow, and a boomerang, but while Skyward Sword had you in the company of a sentient blade, Twilight Princess sees Link in the company of the snarky, impish Midna. Oh, and you'll spend a good chunk of time turned into a friggin' wolf. Twilight Princess may be one of the darker entries in the Zelda series, but it's not an entirely grimdark affair. For every moment you spend traversing a haunted forest, you'll spend just as many wailing on chickens or loading Link into a cannon.

Super Mario Galaxy

Nintendo

Super Mario Galaxy is a perfect game. There may be people who don't like it, but that doesn't change its perfection. The music is a series of sweeping orchestral arrangements that make you feel glad to be alive. Setting the game on space-like planetoids allows for an astounding variety of level design and the kind of roaring, flying, gravity-defying freedom not felt since Mario 64. Like any good Mario game, Super Mario Galaxy is almost bursting with secrets to uncover and things to collect. Once you've 100% completed the game, it invites you to do everything again ... as Luigi. And you won't mind one bit, because that's just how fun this game is. Which is why it's #1 in our list of the 25 Best Wii Games.
