Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo

And finally! We get to the most "emo" of Castlevania games! Just the title alone, Aria of Sorrow, is enough to put some of us in a Morrissey-like funk. But the game itself had the complete opposite effect and sent us into throes of elation. It took the best of the previous Castlevania games, added some RPG elements, and then stuck it all in a futuristic setting. As Soma Cruz, you could absorb the power of your fallen enemies and take on their abilities. And really, what's not awesome about that?

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Square Product Development Division

Of all the strategy RPGs on this list, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance has to be the most magical one. It stars a group of children who are whisked away to another land called Ivalice, with the help of an enchanted book. Players control the hero, Marche, and help the lad and his friends return home while trying to survive the Final Fantasy-themed land. Ivalice, you see, was born from Marche's imagination and was inspired by his favorite video game. If only we could do the same thing with this one.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Capcom

Bet you Legend of Zelda fans were nervous that you wouldn't see your boy Link on this list, eh? But rest assured that his absence was only due to his exceptionally high-ranking spot! In The Minish Cap, Link goes on an adventure to save Hyrule and Princess Zelda from the wind mage, Vaati. He does this with the help of Ezlo, an enchanted cap who can help him shrink down to the size of the tiny Picori people. Once he's smaller, he can explore places in the environment that he could never have access to otherwise. We're also introduced to the Four Sword for the first time, which is important because...

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with Four Swords

Nintendo/Capcom

... it totally shows up in this game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with Four Swords. A Link to the Past was one of the greatest SNES games and started the series' mainstay of having two worlds in which Link could travel. And for some reason, Link had pink hair, so make of that what you will. It was a fantastic adventure that left a mark in a lot of gamers' hearts and continues to be one of the most revered Zelda titles. But as a bonus, you also had the multiplayer game, Four Swords, in which you could team up with three buddies to defeat Vaati. The extra Links are due to the Four Sword's magic, which created copies of the first Link. Now if only we could do the same thing our collector's editions of video games.

Final Fantasy 4 Advance

TOSE

Oh yeah, Final Fantasy 4 Advance time! It's one of the most revered titles in all of gaming and takes the number one spot on our 25 Best GBA Games list. Not only was it cool that it had airships, dark knights, and memorable characters like Cecil, Rydia, and Kain, but it was one of the first games to really introduce an intricate plot with a story that drove the action. And since this iteration let us take such a beefy adventure with us wherever we went, it definitely deserves to be the winner.
