The Last Guardian

I really wanted The Last Guardian to blow me away. I've always had a soft spot for the underdog, and a game that sat in development limbo for over 10 years certainly fit that status. I hoped this would be a complete and beautiful experience that I’d talk about for years to come. Sadly, the decade-long wait for the third feather in Team Ico’s cap did not meet that standard, as the emotional story was marred by technical issues of a bygone era.

It was a long and agonizing wait, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The Last Guardian made a triumphant return to the video game industry spotlight during Sony's E3 2015 media briefing, sending attendees and viewers at home alike into ecstatic frenzies. The demo shown on stage is a great glimpse into what we can expect on its own, but the few minutes of footage that precedes the demo, shown exclusively at Sony's booth during the show, gives extra perspective on how deep the relationship is between the boy and the giant creature.

Sony and Team Ico have shocked the world by finally giving us a gameplay trailer for what we thought we'd never see, The Last Guardian.

Despite some recent hiccups in renewing its trademark, Sony claims that Team Ico is still working hard at bringing The Last Guardian to life.

Members of Team Ico are equally tired of waiting for the sequel to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, as two former artists on the project have joined indie studio Friend&Foe to help create their own spiritual successor in Vane.

After years of development, Team Ico's The Last Guardian has been cancelled. Say it ain't so.

As reported by Venture Beat, release news of the long in development The Last Guardian, a game developed by acclaimed Japanese developer Team Ico, remains nonexistent. During an interview at the PlayStation 4 event, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida was unwilling to give any kind of details on the game, admitting that the company has, "broken promises."
