While the world waits breathlessly for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, the folks at Dennation Games must have felt our desperation for mayhem, so they've bestowed on us a small gift: the original Hotline Miami is coming to PlayStation 4.

On a bigger scale, on a cultural level, pixel art has evolved. It is no longer seen as a limited interpretation of the physical world but is self-referential and continually pushing outside the boundaries of the technology it is aping.

Better dust off that collection of masks because the first Hotline Miami will be coming to PlayStation 4 to coincide with the release of its sequel.

Making its console debut, Hotline Miami is a gore-filled shooter that blew away the PC world with its trippy visuals and visceral gameplay. For fans of indie games and Humble Bundles, Hotline Miami has been a bizarre treasure since it was released last October. However, hitting consoles is something completely different. Will this indie success story make the transition to the PlayStation Network

One of 2012's biggest surprises, Hotline Miami, will be getting a sequel that takes place during the '90s.

It has been a little bit since Dungeon Hearts was first announced about a year ago, but developer Cube Roots has been working on the game since then and it's now been targeted with an official release date -- March 28th.

Indie hit and critical smash Hotline Miami will be making the jump to consoles when it arrives on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this spring.
