Goku vs Naruto. Kenshiro vs Joseph Joestar. Kenshin vs Ichigo. All of these and more are possible in the J-Stars series, games that the Japanese markets have been loving for years now. Somehow Bandai Namco has convinced the powers that be to allow Western markets to see what this franchise is all about with J-Stars Victory VS+, and I dare say that it may have been worth the wait.

I'll tell you what; you haven't lived until you've harpooned a War Boy from his car, and flung him across the wastelands at hundreds of miles per hour. You just haven't. It's science. I would know, as I spent the better part of my time with Avalanche Studios' Mad Max testing out that very experiment. It's all in the initial plunge; the one that sticks right in the War Boy's chest. You nail that shot, and you can feel the life force exiting the body almost as fast as it flings past Max's car.

E3 2015: Street Fighter V Preview
I'm not going to lie to you folks; Street Fighter V was one of my most anticipated games of E3 2015. Having played every Street Fighter and every derivative of Street Fighter since the Super NES days, the game just called to me as soon as I hit the floor. Playing the game did meet my expectations, as I found the small demo to be a great indicator of things to come, but I really need to see more before I completely buy in. The E3 floor demo only sported six playable characters: the iconic Ryu, the first lady of fighting Chun-Li, the evil M. Bison, the genetically-reprogrammed (I think) Charlie Nash, and the two newly announced fighters, Cammy and Birdie, who some may remember from all the way back in Street Fighter Alpha 3. Each character retained some of what made him or her great in previous games while utilizing the brand new SFV systems very well, creating a perfect blend of old and new.

The EA E3 offering had everything video game fans expected from high action titles like Star Wars Battlefront and Mirror's Edge Catalyst to the storied library of EA Sports titles like Madden NFL 16 and NHL 16. Tucked within all of those announcements however was a small puzzle-platformer that instantly captured the hearts of everyone who saw it. Unravel is a quirky little game starring the cutest little piece of fabric this side of Wool Yoshi, and after some extended hands-on time I instantly fell in love.

Thanks to the success of Skylanders and Disney Infinity, and also a little ol' thing called amiibo, the NFC figure craze can officially move into the sustainable trend category. These collectible figure-based games are no longer just a hot trend, they are a legitimate force to be reckoned with at retail. Adding more fuel to the fire this fall will be Lego Dimensions, the first NFC game to actually require your to build your adventures before you can play them.

E3 2015: The Last Guardian Preview
It was a long and agonizing wait, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The Last Guardian made a triumphant return to the video game industry spotlight during Sony's E3 2015 media briefing, sending attendees and viewers at home alike into ecstatic frenzies. The demo shown on stage is a great glimpse into what we can expect on its own, but the few minutes of footage that precedes the demo, shown exclusively at Sony's booth during the show, gives extra perspective on how deep the relationship is between the boy and the giant creature.

Nathan Drake's adventures are finally coming to an end. After three games that have spanned every corner of the world, we're all finally going to see how the Uncharted story arc comes to a close. E3 2015 was a perfect arena for the next big reveal, and Naughty Dog did not disappoint. The Sony conference demo was great, but it's the extended version of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End on the show floor that really gets the mind racing.

E3 2015: Lego Marvel's Avengers Preview
Since launching in 2005, the Lego [Insert Video Game License Here] series has stayed true to its roots, while offering incremental improvements with every iteration. The earliest games relied heavily on sight gags, while later additions were able to incorporate full voice over tracks to great effect. While we've seen Lego Marvel Super Heroes in action before, Lego Marvel's Avengers is the first superhero license to be based on a film. We've gotten a handful of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings games, as well as other comic-based titles, but even the previous Marvel Lego game was an original tale. With this retelling of The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, Lego will let us relive the movies as they happened, including voice tracks taken straight from the cinematic cuts of the two blockbusters. That means, yes, Scarlett Johansson will voice Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson will be Nick Fury, but you shouldn't count on hearing them say anything you haven't already heard from the dozens of times you've watched the films themselves. That doesn't mean there won't be some new tricks up TT Games' sleeve. In fact, in our short time with the demo, there were some nice new touches already in place.

The release of Super Mario Maker could very well mark a new, even brighter future for the video game industry. That game's launch will mark the first non-Minecraft game design tool, a creative wonderland for players to create their own Mario levels and share them with the world. After dabbling in some rudimentary stage creation of my own and taking on some stages made by other E3-goers, there's a lot of fun to be had in Super Mario Maker.

E3 2015 Star Fox Zero Hands-on Preview
Star Fox Zero is a reboot in more than just the name. This is a return to form for classic Star Fox gameplay, hearkening back to the days of Star Fox 64 when the series truly shined. The console may say "Wii U" on it and the visual quality may reflect current standards, but controlling the game is just like playing the older games back in the Star Fox glory days. Star Fox Zero is a perfect blend of old and new ideas, and while some of the new implementations may be awkward the game is off to a fast start.
