Once considered an important new franchise for next gen hardware, Lost Planet has struggled to keep itself in the public eye through recent years. Since it launched as one of the prettiest early Xbox 360 games, Lost Planet has tumbled from AAA international hit to a forgotten franchise. In fact, Lost Planet had such cache that it was one of a very few titles that was on its way to the silver screen. You can blame an underwhelming sequel or an outdated publisher, it doesn’t matter because Lost Planet is barely afloat these days.

Unless you've been living under a rock, the past three days have been an onslaught of adoration and vitriol for Microsoft’s newest console, Xbox One. Because the recent press conference was so vague, opinions about what the console is capable of is all over the map. For some, the new console means awesome new graphics, better online gaming, and tons of Fantasy Sports support. For others, the new systems’ disregard for indie games, ignorance of backwards compatibility, and obvious cash grab are pushing them away faster than a first date with a hidden snaggletooth. No matter where you stand, the Xbox One has everyone talking about what lies ahead in the next generation of gaming.

With the reveal of the Xbox One, Microsoft has aligned itself against the consumers of this world. In the almighty chase of the dollar, Microsoft has continued to ignore the demands of its users. Instead it has chosen to focus only on what will rake in more revenue. While ensuring ROI for its investors is the core tenant for any company, that doesn’t mean the consumer needs to be scammed at each new iteration of a console. As many new startups have proven, sometimes simply making the consumer happy brings in more business than stealing from them blindly.
