A leaked consumer build of Windows 10 shows that the Cortana digital assistant and an Xbox app are heading to PC.

The Verge reports that apps for Cortana and Xbox were found on a leaked version of a consumer build of Windows 10. We already noted that Xbox head Phil Spencer will be speaking at Microsoft's big Windows 10 press event next month, and now we know a reason why he'll be in attendance. It looks like Cortana will be functioning very much like her Windows Phone counterpart, acting as the owner's digital assistant with reminders, searches and notebook functionality.

Even more surprising is the new Xbox app, which will grant you access to your friends, activity feeds, achievements, the Xbox Store and more. We're really hoping that there will be some sort of cross-buy functionality between Xbox consoles and Windows 10-based PCs -- it's a stretch, but it would be great. There is likely going to be a SmartGlass mobile app for Xbox on Windows 10, and we can't wait to see what you can do with it.

Lastly, Microsoft appears to be integrating its Xbox Video/Music stores into main Windows Store.
